One of the largest efforts to attack Colorado’s marijuana sales is on its way.
A new measure brought forward by petitioners to the state’s Supreme Court aims at setting new potency and packaging restrictions on recreational marijuana. One of these restrictions would impose warnings on packaging that cannabis can put you at risk for, “permanent loss of brain abilities”. Others are aimed more at potency and could eliminate the use of vaporizer pens and editable goods.
These individuals believe that today’s marijuana is too strong and can put people at risk, but it will be up to the people of Colorado to decide that.
This measure would effect everything from sales, production, packaging, regulation and more if approved.
More from the Denver Post.
Marijuana industry attorneys say the measure would ban 80 percent of marijuana products sold today.
“The initiative could devastate Colorado’s fastest-growing industry,” Roy Bingham, head of pot-industry tracking firm BDS Analytics, said in a statement.
Proponents of the measure did not immediately respond to requests for interviews.
The court’s ruling clears supporters to start collecting about 98,000 signatures to put the question on ballots. Signatures are due Aug. 8.
